Clark State Announces Spring Semester 2017 Dean’s List

Clark State Community College has announced the names of students for the 2017 Spring Semester Dean's List. Two hundred thirty five (235) full-time students (those taking 12 or more credit hours) and six hundred sixty one (661) part-time students (those taking 6-11 credit hours) earned a 3.5 grade point average or better to receive dean's list honors.

Project Jericho Celebrates the Catching Light Mural on West Main Street

Project Jericho and Clark County Solid Waste District teamed up to bring awareness to the recycling center located at 1602 West Main Street. Colorado muralist Mariah Kaminsky worked with youth in our community to not only reclaim and restore a wall, but also create a light for a neighborhood and our entire community. The community is invited to attend the celebration of the Catching Light Mural on Wednesday, May 24 from 5-6:30 p.m.

Clark State Expanding Scholars Program to Champaign County

Clark State Community College will expand the Champion City Scholars program into Champaign County this fall. Champion City Scholars is a participatory program for middle to high school students that, if successfully completed, results in three years of tuition-free education at Clark State. Graham local schools and Urbana local schools will pilot the Champaign County Scholars program with plans to later expand into additional Champaign County districts.

Clark State Hires Retired Air Force Colonel John Devillier as Vice President for Business Affairs

Retired Air Force Colonel John Devillier will take the helm at Clark State Community College as the new vice president for business affairs. Devillier replaces Joe Jackson who retired at the end of last year. Clark State President Dr. Jo Alice Blondin said Col. Devillier’s vision, energy, financial acumen, leadership, preparation and communication skills will provide Clark State with the necessary skill set to serve students in business operations across the Springfield, Beavercreek and Bellefontaine campuses.

Clark State Community College – Springfield Regional School of Nursing Graduates Receive Pins

The Clark State Community College – Springfield Regional School of Nursing will hold pinning ceremonies for more than 70 graduating nurses who have completed their programs of study at the conclusion of fall semester. The pinning ceremony for registered nursing students will be held Wednesday, May 3, 2017; 73 registered nursing students will be honored at this event. The pinning ceremony for the practical nursing students was held Monday, May 1; 26 practical nursing students were honored during this ceremony.

Pippin Has Been Canceled for May 2

The Broadway Tour of Pippin scheduled for May 2, 2017, at the Clark State Performing Arts Center in Springfield has been canceled. Hazardous weather conditions have prevented safe travel from the show’s current location in western Kansas. Ticket holders for Pippin will receive a full refund.

Clark State to Hold Annual Athletic Banquet, Recognize Student Athletes

Clark State Community College will hold their annual Athletic Banquet on Tuesday, May 2 at the Hollenbeck Bayley Creative Arts and Conference Center in downtown Springfield. Each Clark State athletic team nominated an MVP, Most Improved, Hustle and Student Scholar. Springfield North High School alumni and two-time Most Valuable Player (MVP) Wynette P. Carter-Smith will speak to the group of student-athletes and guests.

Clark State Foundation Director Selected by AAWCC for 40 Under 40 Class of 2017

The American Association of Women in Community Colleges has selected Clark State Community College Foundation Director, Catherine Maher, as a member of the second 40 Under 40 class. Those selected for the second 40 Under 40 class are considered a rising star for their community college. All members of the 2017 40 Under 40 class were honored during the AAWCC National Awards Breakfast in New Orleans.

Small Business Development Center Relocating to Clark State

Clark State Community College and the Springfield Small Business Development Center (SBDC) are excited to announce a new partnership between the two organizations. As a result of this collaboration, SBDC will be relocating its offices to the Brinkman Educational Center in downtown Springfield effective June 1.

Clark State’s Phi Theta Kappa to Hold Induction Ceremony

Alpha Nu Lambda, Clark State Community College’s chapter of the international honor society Phi Theta Kappa (PTK), will hold a spring induction ceremony at 5:30 p.m., Wednesday, April 26 at the Hollenbeck Bayley Creative Arts and Conference Center in downtown Springfield. More than 40 students have accepted the invitation this spring to join PTK—the world’s largest honor society for two-year college students.

Clark State Events Focused on Hearing Impaired, LGBTQA Communities

Clark State Community College hosted two new events at the Springfield campus aimed at training faculty, staff and students to learn more about the hearing impaired and LGBTQA communities. An American Sign Language (ASL) event was held April 21. The event allowed Clark State students enrolled in ASL courses to interact with the deaf community. The Clark State Diversity Committee again partnered with Wright State University April 7 to offer faculty and staff training on supporting the LGBTQA community.

Clark State’s Production of The Clean House Opens Tonight

The Clean House will open tonight, April 13, at the Clark State Community College Performing Arts Center. The Clark State Theatre Arts Program has been rehearsing since January for the spring production of the play by Sarah Ruhl. The Clean House will begin at 8 p.m. in the Clark State Performing Arts Center’s Turner Studio Theatre, 300 South Fountain Avenue in Springfield, April 13-15 and April 20-22 with a matinee performance on April 23 at 2 p. m.
