Clark State to Host HTEC Conference, Welcome Educators from Across the State, Country

Clark State Community College will host a Haas Technical Education Center (HTEC) Educators Conference on Friday, March 16 at the Brinkman Educational Center in downtown Springfield. HTEC conferences are a part of the Haas Commitment to Education. The mission of the HTEC is to promote and advance manufacturing and productivity through excellence in manufacturing education.

Clark State, Partners to Hold Ground Breaking Ceremony for New REACH Center in Xenia

Clark State Community College, in collaboration with the City of Xenia, Kettering Health Network, the YMCA of Greater Dayton, the Xenia Adult Recreation and Services Center and Central State University will break ground on a new facility to address educational, health and workforce needs in Greene County. Clark State will offer degree and certificate programs as well as workforce training, seminars and workshops at the REACH Center.

Clark State VP Named President of Edmonds Community College

Dr. Amit Singh, provost and senior vice president of Clark State Community College, has accepted the position as president of Edmonds Community College in Lynnwood, Washington. Edmonds Community College’s extensive search for a new president began in the summer of 2017. At a special meeting held March 2, the Edmonds Community College Board of Trustees voted to offer Singh the role of the next president. He will begin on June 25 of this year and succeed former Edmonds President Jean Hernandez who retired on December 31, 2017.

Clark State’s Nora Hatem to Receive Inaugural Faculty Distinction Award from AACC

Clark State Community College Associate Professor Nora Hatem has been designated by the American Association of Community College’s as a recipient of the Dale P. Parnell Faculty Distinction Award. Hatem, associate professor and program coordinator for Clark State’s industrial and engineering programs, has worked as a faculty member at Clark State since 2008. Prior to coming to Clark State, she worked in manufacturing and secondary education, and Clark State has been the beneficiary of her expertise in both areas.

Clark State Presents Awards for Professional Excellence, Diversity and Service at Annual Charter Night

Clark State Community College hosted the college’s 56th annual Charter Night on February 20. The annual event serves to remind the college and community about the founding of Clark State, celebrated through the establishment of the charter to operate as a post-secondary institution in the region. Staff, faculty and community were recognized for years of service, diversity and inclusion and professional excellence.

Clark State, Mercy Health Sign Letter of Intent for New Health Clinic

Clark State Community College and Mercy Health have entered into a Letter of Intent, outlining Mercy Health’s intention to open a new health clinic on Clark State’s Springfield campus on Leffel Lane in the spring of 2019. It is anticipated that the new health clinic will be located in the Applied Science Center and will serve as the primary medical care facility for Clark State students, faculty, staff and the community at large. It will also likely be used for student clinical experiences and internships.

Ohio Governor John Kasich has declared by Resolution February 10 - 17, 2018, as Ohio Court Reporting & Captioning Week, and Clark State will recognize this Resolution along with National Court Reporting & Captioning Week. Clark State offers an online associate degree in Judicial Court Reporting, with an additional semester offering of a career-enhancement certificate for Captioning.

Clark State Fire Academy Graduates Well Prepared to Serve Community

Clark State Community College and Springfield Fire-Rescue Division will award 11 graduates with a Firefighter II short-term technical certification at a ceremony on February 16. Jeremy Linn, fire safety services training coordinator for Clark State, said there is a need in the area for full-time career firefighters as well as volunteer firefighters who provide community service in smaller and more rural areas.

Prince Charming Seeking Owner of Glass Slipper at Clark State Performing Arts Center

Prince Charming will make a one-night stop at the Clark State Performing Arts Center in hopes of finding the owner of a glass slipper. Charming – last seen at the Ball with an unidentified female – plans to propose to the one woman upon whom the slipper will properly fit. The Clark State Performing Arts Center will welcome Prince Charming - and his quest to find the owner of the coveted glass slipper - in the Broadway performance of Cinderella on Friday, February 23.

Clark State Announces Fall 2017 Dean’s List

Clark State Community College has announced the names of students who achieved the 2017 Fall Semester Dean's List. Two hundred thirty-nine (239) full-time students (those taking 12 or more credit hours) and seven hundred thirty-one (731) part-time students (those taking 6-11 credit hours) earned a 3.5 grade point average or better to receive dean's list honors.

Clark State and Mercy Health Partner to Address Health in the Black Community at February Event

Clark State Community College and Mercy Health will host a dinner event in honor of Black History Month on Thursday, February 15 at the Hollenbeck Bayley Creative Arts and Conference Center in downtown Springfield. The theme of the event is “Health in the Black Community,” and it will feature a panel of local minority health experts. A limited number of tickets for the “Health in the Black Community” event are available. Tickets are free, but must be reserved.

Toni Overholser, director of workforce and business solutions for Clark State Community College, has been named the 2018 Greene County Career Center Friend of Education. The Greene County Career Center Friend of Education is presented annually to an individual, business or organization that exemplifies the Career Center’s mission of empowering students through advanced technologies, integrated instruction and community partnerships to succeed in career, college and life.

Clark State, Champaign Economic Partnership Strive to Strengthen Workforce with Enhanced Partnership

Clark State Community College and the Champaign Economic Partnership (CEP) have joined forces to enhance regional workforce and economic development efforts in Champaign County, Ohio, and the surrounding areas. The expanded partnership will provide Clark State with a home base in Champaign County allowing better coordination of the regional workforce and economic development efforts, as well as provide more convenient access to the local businesses and other partners.
