Two Clark State Students Awarded Scholarships

October 27, 2020

Clark State Community College student Jill Wright has been selected to receive a scholarship from The National Court Reporters Association (NCRA). The NCRA A to Z® Scholarship is supported by funds from the National Court Reporters Foundation (NCRF), the philanthropic arm of NCRA.

“The A to Z program was a fantastic experience before I started court reporting school,” Wright said. “Not only did it teach me the foundation of the steno machine, it connected me with an awesome mentor to support me through my journey.”

NCRA is the country’s leading organization representing stenographic court reporters, captioners and legal videographers.

Robyn Hennigan, program coordinator for the Judicial Court Reporting program at Clark State, said she is always excited to have students enter the Judicial Court Reporting program who have completed the National Court Reporters Association's free A to Z program.

“The program aids in setting the students up for success in our program by introducing them to the steno machine, connecting them with a mentor and helping students understand that the skill of reporting takes dedication and determination to achieve,” she said. "I am thrilled that Jill Wright won the National Court Reporters Association's A to Z scholarship. She is a hard-working, diligent student who is working hard through the program to achieve her degree in court reporting."

Clark State student Patrick Hand will receive the seventh annual Cliff Lovin Scholarship award from Woolpert. Woolpert is committed to a vision to become the premier architecture, engineering, geospatial (AEG) and strategic consulting firm, and one of the best companies in the world.

Woolpert established the Cliff Lovin Scholarship through the County Engineers Association of Ohio for geography or engineering students attending school in the State of Ohio. The intent of the scholarship is to support the geospatial industry by helping students interested in careers related to the field.

“Patrick is very deserving of this award,” said Dr. Adam John Parrillo, associate professor of business and applied technologies at Clark State. “He is an inquisitive person and brings this along with a directed intensity to his coursework, which is why he was selected as the GST program's Outstanding Student in the previous year.”
