Professional development offered for emerging leaders and team members

Clark State College has announced two workforce professional development opportunities: a one-day Lean Six Sigma Yellow Belt certification workshop and a comprehensive Professional Supervisor Training program. Designed to enhance career opportunities and equip professionals with highly-sought after skills, both workshops will be held at Clark State’s Brinkman Education Center, 100 S. Limestone St. in Springfield.

Mike Fedotowsky, a business consultant for Proctor and Gamble, Eli Lilly, Premier Health, World Bank and more, will facilitate the workshop “Problem-Solving for Team Members” on Oct. 30 from 8 a.m.- 4 p.m. A Lean Six Sigma Yellow Belt certification workshop, participants will learn to utilize the “define, measure, analyze, improve, control methodology” to enhance their problem-solving skills and allow them to contribute more effectively to their organizations.

The cost of the workshop is $360 with a 10 percent discount for groups of three or more from the same business. The registration fee includes a continental breakfast, lunch, articulation of one credit hour at Clark State College and the ability to advance to the Lean Six Sigma Green Belt course.

“We are thrilled to offer this Lean Six Sigma Yellow Belt certification workshop which aligns with our mission to provide high-quality education and workforce training,” said Toni Overholser, Clark State vice president of advancement and outreach. “This certification not only empowers professionals to significantly contribute to their organizations’ success, but it can be a game-changer for professionals looking to advance in their careers.”

Beginning Nov. 7, Clark State will host “Take Your Team to the Next Level,” a professional supervisor training program to enhance leadership, communication, time management and conflict resolution skills among supervisors. Led by Christopher Thompson, who holds a master’s degree in human services and social work from Walden University, the course will be held on Thursdays from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., ending Dec. 5. The workshop fee is $620.

“Investing in the development of our supervisors is essential for the growth and success of any organization,” Overholser said. “This program provides comprehensive training that prepares supervisors to meet the challenges of today's dynamic work environments.”
