New Clark State Location at the Xenia YMCA Offering Hard Hat Tours

October 16, 2018

It’s time to don your hard hat and get a first glimpse of Clark State Community College at the Xenia YMCA. Construction on the new Clark State Xenia location is well under way with a projected opening date of January 2019.

Clark State, in collaboration with the City of Xenia, Kettering Health Network, the YMCA of Greater Dayton, the Xenia Adult Recreation and Services Center and Central State University broke ground on the new facility to address educational, health and workforce needs in Greene County earlier this spring.

Clark State will use 4,950 square feet of the brand new facility for classrooms, laboratories and offices. At full capacity, the classrooms would allow Clark State to serve approximately 300-400 students. Clark State requested funding for the Xenia YMCA location through the Priority Development and Advocacy Committee.

“The building will be open January 2 to serve students,” said Dr. Theresa Felder, senior vice president for student success at Clark State. “Students can begin to register for Xenia classes on October 22 at any of our other campuses.”

The Clark State Xenia YMCA location, 336 South Progress Drive in Xenia, will offer a series of “Hard Hat” tours prior to the grand opening. The goal is to show the community the synergy of the new facility and partnerships. The “Hard Hat” tours will take place at 11 a.m. on October 20, November 17 and December 8.

Clark State is planning for the first semester of classes (hard hats not required) at the Xenia YMCA location to begin January 14, 2019.

We are partnering with Kettering Health Network to provide in-demand health programs - both associate degrees and short-term certificates,” said Felder.
