Exchange Club of Springfield, Clark State Foundation Establish Fred Dillon Scholarship

March 26, 2021

The Exchange Club of Springfield, Ohio and its Foundation have established the Fred Dillon Endowed Scholarship in Manufacturing through the Clark State College Foundation, with a $15,000 donation.

“The Exchange Club and the Exchange Club Foundation of Springfield have a strong commitment to our community. Clark State is honored to present the Fred Dillion Scholarship, on their behalf,” said Toni Overholser, director of the Clark State Foundation. “Mr. Dillion exemplified the Exchange Club mission to inspire communities to become better places to live. He was passionate about education and the manufacturing industry.”

Overholser said it is fitting that the Exchange Club scholarship will support Clark State students pursuing a Bachelor’s of Applied Science degree in Manufacturing Technology Management.

“We appreciate all the Exchange club does to enhance our community; especially the opportunity for our students to improve their lives through education,” she said.

Dillon joined the Exchange Club of Springfield in 1957. He served as Club President in 1968, 1981, and finally in 2000, at 90 years of age.

As the owner of Dillon Manufacturing in Springfield, he created the Exchange Club Foundation of Springfield, Ohio. Since 2003, the Foundation has donated nearly $500,000 to local organizations and funded the club’s Exchange Projects of Service including: Americanism, Youth, Community Service, and the Prevention of Child Abuse projects.

Dillon graduated from The Ohio State University, was a member of the Kappa Phi Kappa Fraternity, former member of National Management Association and American Society of Tool Engineers, member of Clark County Hearing and Speech Association, and Charter member of the Springfield and Clark County Community Hospital Association. He was especially passionate about education as one of the keys to success in life.

The Exchange Club Foundation of Springfield scholarship will be awarded for the 2021-2022 Clark State academic year.

The Clark State Foundation seeks to ensure that a high-quality college education is accessible to all. The Foundation is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization that creates and maintains community awareness and partners with donors to receive, manage and disburse gifts that initiate and support educational and cultural programs for Clark State and its constituents.
