Clark State Welcomes New Volleyball Coach

March 27, 2017

Steve McInturff has joined Clark State Community College as the new head coach of the women’s volleyball team.

“I'm very happy to welcome Coach McInturff to our program,” said Justin McCulla, director of athletics and student life for Clark State. “He brings quality and experience and is a very capable coach and recruiter.”

McCulla said McInturff has had previous success coaching and running the SOJO volleyball club; he brings a proven ability to successfully handle various aspects of an athletics program. “I know he will be a great role model for our players, both on and off the court - showing them how to not only be successful student-athletes but also successful people,” McCulla said.

McInturff grew up in Champaign County, Ohio, graduated from the Columbus College of Art and Design and has coached at several local high schools including Urbana, Kenton Ridge and the former Springfield North.

McInturff has served for ten years as the club volleyball coach of Springfield Ohio Junior Organization (SOJO) and the National Trails Parks and Recreation 5th /6th grade instructional league “Slammer” volleyball coach.

In addition to responsibilities as a varsity coach, McInturff also planned and executed successful volleyball skills camps and participated in various fund raisers for the programs.

McInturff said he’s looking forward to coaching at the college level. “I’m excited to get my feet planted at Clark State, getting some consistency and a positive outlook on the program and keeping it moving forward,” he said.

Clark State has more than 25 volleyball matches scheduled for the 2017-18 season beginning in August.
