Clark State Community College welcomed Kanesha Hall as the new STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) program manager in January. Hall, born and raised in Springfield, is a South High School graduate. She completed her master’s degree in education at Wright State University last spring.
As the STEM program manager, Hall will visit Clark County high schools and meet with staff, students and families. Hall said some students have already shared their unique learning-style preferences. “I appreciate and seek to accommodate the unique skills of learners,” said Hall. “So when I am approaching an audience, classroom or meeting, it is a joy of mine to discuss how to help others discover their strengths both academically and socially.”
Hall is looking forward to presenting the Johns Hopkins University Engineering Innovation program to local high school students. “It is a great experience to be in collaboration with Johns Hopkins University,” said Hall. “Because my professional background is in education, I have the honor of helping design the program experience for Clark County students and even teach with wonderful faculty from Johns Hopkins.”
Clark State is one of only three locations nationwide to offer the Engineering Innovation program. Hall hopes to encourage Clark County to embrace the diversity and importance of science, while helping students embark on their path to professions in STEM fields.
“It is my plan to accomplish sparking an interest in our students who are curious about engineering. Clark State Community College has excellent programs with courses that are applicable to other universities,” she said.
Hall brings a wealth of experience to Clark State including teaching science, knowledge of education and also working with Gear Up, Upward Bound and other pre-college programming during her undergraduate and graduate education.She wants the students in Clark County to know there are outstanding individuals paving routes of opportunities for them. “Exploring summer education options such as Engineering Innovation are ways to experience college-level studies and begin establishing your dreams for your future.”
