Clark State Vice President Named to AACC Commission on Institutional Infrastructure and Transformation

July 29, 2020

Dr. Matt Franz, vice president of Information Technology & Emergency Management for Clark State Community College has been appointed to the American Association of Community College’s (AACC) Commission on Institutional Infrastructure and Transformation.

“Dr. Franz will be an excellent addition to the AACC Commission of Institutional Infrastructure and Transformation,” said Dr. Jo Alice Blondin, president of Clark State. “His vast knowledge of technology and his expertise in managing change has been essential to the future of Clark State, and his generosity in sharing his strategic vision will be beneficial to all community colleges.”

The Commission on Institutional Infrastructure and Transformation is charged with focusing on the transformation of the institution to improve student success, which includes administrative processes, infrastructure, technology and building human resource capacity.

“One of the great things about engaging with AACC on a commission is the ability to see the breadth of the national scale of some of the key strategies and issues community colleges are facing,” said Franz. “AACC is an extraordinary organization which can bring together people from across many different institutions to discuss common issues facing our students and colleges.”

There are nine commissions authorized by the AACC Board. Each commission consists of an average of 24 people from member institutions who are CEOs or administrators. Commissions were established to accomplish the following:

  • Provide advice to the AACC Board and staff.
  • Encourage collaboration among community college entities and organizations.
  • Provide a forum for focused conversation about the important community college issues and priorities of the day.
  • Provide for increased involvement in the Association by AACC member CEOs and other professional staff.
  • Provide leadership opportunities for members of the AACC Board of Directors (who serve as chairs).

“To be able to have deep discussions and to engage with other leaders and decision makers throughout the United States can be enormously beneficial to Clark State as well,” said Franz. “We have an opportunity to share the great things we are doing while at the same time hearing how others are addressing key challenges. Bringing back some of that discussion can help inform our own initiatives and strategies to better serve our students.”

Franz’s appointment to the AACC Commission on Institutional Infrastructure and Transformation began on July 1 and will continue through June 30, 2023.
