Clark State to Host Virtual Information Session on Manufacturing Programs

May 4, 2020

Clark State Community College will hold an information session for students and prospective students interested in the Manufacturing programs. The virtual session will be held at 4 p.m. on Thursday, May 14.

“This session is designed to give prospective students a chance to learn more about the college's manufacturing-related certificate, associate degree and bachelor’s degree programs, potential careers related to the field and the college’s enrollment process,” said Dr. J. Nickey Brown, assistant professor of manufacturing technology management at Clark State.

Brown said manufacturing management encompasses an array of career opportunities including manufacturing, automation, industrial technology, project management, additive manufacturing, welding, robotics, CNC, CAD, engineering, industrial maintenance and more.

Clark State began offering a bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing Technology Management in 2019 to align with local industry needs. Clark State President Dr. Jo Alice Blondin said the degree complements Clark State’s existing certificates and associate degrees and is an opportunity to provide higher education for an industry important to the region’s economic health.

“Additionally, incumbent workers can now have access to a bachelor’s degree that brings with it the opportunities for advancement and higher-level skill development,” she said. “It’s a win-win for the employees and employers.”

This virtual information session hosted by Clark State’s School of Business and Applied Technologies will focus on quality assurance, leadership and project management in manufacturing. It is an opportunity for students to gain valuable information about Clark State and begin preparing for their education.

“We want to give students insights on why we offer the manufacturing certificate and degree programs, their connection to current industry and their impact on future industry,” said Brown. “It's also an opportunity to ask questions about Clark State and how we strive to service the needs of our community.”
