Clark State to Host, Mediate Female First Responders Panel Discussion

April 5, 2023

Clark State College will present a Female First Responders panel discussion at 2 p.m., Saturday, April 8, in the Gaier Room at the Springfield Public Library, 201 South Fountain Avenue, Springfield.

The panel will feature: Director Michelle Clements-Pitstick of the Clark County EMA, Chief Allison Elliott of the Springfield Police Division, Deputy Melany Morton from the Champaign County Sheriff’s Office, and Captain Becca Anderson from the Springfield Fire & Rescue Division.

The discussion will be moderated by Karen Benton, associate professor/program coordinator of the Clark State criminal justice program.

Benton said the event will provide the public with the opportunity to meet and receive information from prominent female public service representatives in the community.

“They will be offering their perspective regarding the issues they face, the unique attributes they bring to their positions and the challenges that they have faced along their career paths,” she said.

The event is open to the public and the audience will have an opportunity to pose questions to the panel members during this event.

“I am honored to moderate a discussion that provides an opportunity for female first responders from our community to share information regarding how their career evolved and the role they play in public safety,” said Benton.
