Clark State Community College will host two virtual “Ask the Recruiter” sessions about careers in the insurance industry on Thursday, December 3. The presentations will allow students the opportunity to learn what job recruiters are seeking, tips to being employable and to also allow an opportunity to ask specific questions.
“This event is an opportunity for students and community members to hear directly from a senior recruiter from an insurance organization that has served customers for over 80 years,” said Crystal Jones, assistant dean of business and applied technologies at Clark State. “Participants will learn about the organization, the insurance industry, skills employers are looking for and the thousands of job openings forecasted in Ohio. In addition, participants will have a chance to ask questions.”
Jones said Clark State is a part of the Ohio Insurance Industry Resource Council (IIRC), working with multiple insurance organizations and other institutions of higher education throughout the state to bridge the talent gap of 29,000 jobs over the next four years. Ohio is home to approximately 242 insurance companies with various positions available. Too often people think that insurance means insurance agent, which is only one career path.
Jones and Clark State Career Services Coordinator Melody Gast will lead the “Ask the Recruiter” sessions.
“Clark State is dedicated to responding to the needs of our communities and employers to assist in economic growth and stability,” said Jones. “The college has an insurance certificate and degree that will onboard students into a career in this industry.”
