Clark State Community College will host its 2nd Annual Student Success Conference on December 10 beginning at 8 a.m.
The 2020 Clark State Student Success Conference is an opportunity for Clark State faculty and staff to highlight what they have done, what they are doing and future plans to promote student success at the college.
“This is our second year holding the conference, and this year we have a really diverse and exciting schedule of presentations from staff, faculty and student presenters from across the college,” said Dr. Danielle Roach, assistant professor at Clark State Community College.
The conference will include morning and afternoon programming blocks with breakout sessions. In between the morning and afternoon blocks, the keynote address will be presented by Corey Minor Smith, and lunch will be provided.
Corey Minor Smith is an attorney, author and transformational speaker who helps audiences turn their problems into power. Smith also served as a Canton City Council at-large member. She is the first African American to be elected to a city-wide position in Canton, Ohio. As a city council member, Smith focused on advocating for community development block grant funds to address mental health issues among youth and enhancing community awareness about services and resources available in the community. Whether she is speaking at the lectern, holding forth in court, or conversing in dialogue in community centers across the country, Attorney Corey Minor Smith is one of the most dynamic speakers, thinkers and activists in the nation today.
The Student Success Conference is open to Clark State faculty and staff and members of the public. Registration is free but required; email Dr. Danielle Roach at roachd@clarkstate.edu for more information. The registration deadline is November 15.
Some presentations will require a device to access the Internet. Attendees are asked to bring a smart phone, tablet or laptop.
The Student Success Conference will be held from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Tuesday, December 10 in the LRC building, Room 207/209 on the Clark State main campus at 570 East Leffel Lane, Springfield.
