Clark State to Hold Open House for Renovated Downtown Brinkman Educational Center

November 13, 2017

Clark State Community College will hold an open house for the newly renovated dining and seminar rooms on the fourth floor of the Brinkman Educational Center in downtown Springfield.

“This project was a true team effort by the President’s Office, Physical Plant, Conference Services and Information Technology,” said Mellanie Toles, assistant to the president of Clark State. “The renovated dining room space now allows extra room and easy configuration of the space to hold larger events than it did previously.”

Planning for the renovation began in the spring of this year. The space will be used for internal and external meetings, trainings and events.

“We plan to use the space for a variety of events,” said Tracy Yates, conferences services manager for Clark State. “We just had our first wedding rehearsal dinner and expect to have small company parties, business meetings, receptions and more. This room can be used for just about anything.”

Updates include cosmetic changes such as carpeting, painting, new lighting, tables, chairs, furnishings, artwork and reconfiguring of the dining room space.

“The spaces were in need of some updating since they hadn’t been remodeled for quite some time,” said Toles. “Technology updates were also made in both the dining room and seminar room to better meet the needs of our external and internal users/renters.”

The public is invited to attend the open house for a tour of the fourth floor dining and seminar rooms from 1 – 2:30 p.m., Wednesday, November 29. Dr. Jo Alice Blondin, president of Clark State, will make brief remarks at the start of the event.
