Clark State Performing Arts Center Will Be Illuminated in Blue to Honor Essential Workers, Healthcare Employees

April 17, 2020

The Clark State Performing Arts Center (PAC) in downtown Springfield, Ohio, will be illuminated in blue light as part of the Light It Blue campaign sweeping the nation’s theaters and landmarks.

The Light It Blue initiative was first introduced on April 9 and originally included 100 Broadway theaters and some major landmarks in the United States. This initiative has been continued on Thursday nights across the United States.

The PAC, located at 300 South Fountain Avenue, will be illuminated with messages in blue on Thursday, April 23 from 8 - 10 p.m. to honor and express gratitude to all of the healthcare employees, first responders and essential workers on the front lines of the COVID-19 pandemic.

“Our role as an arts organization is providing hope for our community, and like so many in the world today, we want to thank our essential workers,” said Adele Adkins, executive director of the Clark State Performing Arts Center. “We also want to send a message to our community and our Clark State students that we are here and cannot wait to welcome them back when it is safe.”

JR Riechers, the PAC’s lighting designer, has drafted the design for this project and will be installing the lights and messages on the building.

The PAC is currently closed to all events through May 10 of this year to help prevent the spread of the COVID-19 virus.
