Clark State Performing Arts Center Cancels, Postpones Events in Continued Effort to Prevent Spread of COVID-19

March 11, 2020

The Clark State Community College Performing Arts Center (PAC) has canceled or postponed all scheduled events through March 31 based on guidelines set by Ohio Governor Mike DeWine in effort to curb the spread of the COVID-19 virus.

The Goitse performance on Saturday, March 14 is canceled; and the Theater Arts production of Urinetown scheduled for March 27, 28 and 29 will be postponed. Potential new performance dates are being considered.

“Hard decisions are being made throughout the arts world - whether by commercial or non-profit enterprises - I feel and truly share any disappointment these cancellations bring,” said Adele Adkins, executive director of the Clark State Performing Arts Center. “This is a really tough time, and it is affecting all of us. In a field where our goal is to bring people together, the decision to cancel an event or show did not come lightly but is the right thing to do based on all the guidance coming from the CDC and Ohio Governor. Our first priority is always the health and safety of our staff, performers, renters and patrons.”

Adkins said tickets purchased for these two performances will be refunded from the point of sale: tickets purchased online will be automatically refunded to the credit card used; ticketholders who purchased tickets in person or by phone should call the box office at 937.328.3874.

“Social distancing is simply actions that reduce gathering people together to slow the spread,” said Dr. Matt Franz, vice president, information technology and emergency management at Clark State. “Infectious disease experts agree that proper hand hygiene and social distancing will be most effective at controlling the spread of COVID-19.”

No known members of the Clark State or surrounding area community have tested positive for COVID-19. At this time, there are four positive COVID-19 cases in Ohio.

“The safety of the Clark State community and patrons of the PAC is of the utmost importance,” said Dr. Jo Alice Blondin, president of Clark State. “We will continue to adhere to the guidance set forth by Ohio Governor DeWine. The health of our community comes first and foremost in our efforts to prevent the spread of COVID-19.”
