Clark State Hosting Informational Luncheons for School Counselors

September 29, 2016

Clark State Community College hosted the first of three luncheons for junior high and high school counselors on the Leffel Lane campus in Springfield on September 23.

“Great dialogue took place between the high school counselors and Clark State’s Student Affairs staff,” said Nina Wiley, dean of enrollment for Clark State. “We discussed how we can strengthen our working relationships and individualize our outreach to meet the needs of their students and district.”

Clark State hosts the luncheons annually as an opportunity to re-connect with counselors that have guided students to Clark State for many years. This is also an opportunity for Clark State staff to learn from the counselors about student trends and challenges.

At each luncheon counselors receive updates regarding College Credit Plus, financial aid, Tech Prep, the Honors Program and much more. “We are committed to providing support and resources to our area high school counselors as they guide students through the college and career selection process. Our enrollment staff works closely with the counselors to provide access and opportunities for their students.”

All junior and high school counselors within Clark State’s recruiting territories are invited to attend the annual events. “Clark State hosts these events to show our appreciation for the counselors,” said Wiley.

Additional luncheons are scheduled for September 29 at the Ohio Hi-Point Career Center at Clark State’s Bellefontaine campus and on September 30 at Greene Center on the Beavercreek campus. There is no cost to attend the luncheons.
