Clark State CDL Program Approved for OhioMeansJobs Loan Program

September 28, 2015

Clark State Community College has been approved as an eligible institution for the OhioMeansJobs Workforce Development Revolving Loan Program by the Ohio Department of Higher Education (formerly the Ohio Board of Regents).

The Ohio Department of Higher Education awarded $99,000 to the Commercial Driver License (CDL) program. The CDL program will continue to provide opportunities for Clark State students to acquire advanced education and skills in their field of study.

"This loan program gives us the ability to help fund individuals who otherwise would not be able to go through the training program,” said Duane Hodge, director of workforce development for Clark State. “And that, in turn, will allow us to help fill these high-demand jobs."

The Ohio Department of Higher Education explains that the purpose of the loan program is to promote and encourage Ohio’s workforce development and job growth through educational training and retraining in programs related to employment opportunities in growing fields.

“Through this program, students will have the opportunity to fund their CDL training and go directly into a job,” said Theresa Felder, vice president of student affairs and Greene Center operations for Clark State. “The jobs are available, and now the students will have the ability to pay for the training to fill these in-demand positions. It’s not only a win for our students, but also for employers.”
