Choir of Man Returns to Clark State Performing Arts Center for Another Feel Good Show

February 20, 2020

Dubbed across the globe as the “Ultimate Feel Good Show,” Clark State Community College will welcome the Choir of Man to the stage of the Clark State Performing Arts Center for the second consecutive year.

“After seeing and hearing the reception when they were here last season, I wanted to bring them back right away,” said Adele Adkins, executive director of the Clark State Performing Arts Center. “We had 20 people attend last year that had seen them the night before in Lima, Ohio. They loved the group so much they drove down here the next night to see them again.”

Adkins said this year, patrons are driving as far as 500 miles to see the Choir of Man at the Clark State Performing Arts Center, “This is a unique and very special group, and one that a person must experience to truly understand.”

The Choir of Man is a pint-filled good time set in a working pub that combines harmonies, high energy dance and live percussion with foot stomping choreography. The cast of nine talented men sing everything from pub tunes, folk songs, Broadway and classic rock.

Not only is the show set in a pub, but it has a real working bar from which the cast will pull pints and invite audience members to get up close and personal with the performers – witnessing the action from chairs and tables among the guys.

Adkins said the show starts a half an hour before the actual performance starts. “The entire cast comes out, and the audience is invited to the stage for a party where the cast serves free beer,” she said. “The cast of guys sing, dance, tell stories and play instruments.”

The Choir of Man is the runaway hit of the international music and theater scene from the creative minds of Andrew Kay – Soweto Gospel ChoirNoise BoysGobsmacked and the award-winning North by Northwest and Nic Doodson – The MagnetsGobsmacked and Noise Boys.

Tickets to see the Choir of Man range in price from $25 to $50 and are available on ticketmaster.com. The show begins at 8 p.m., Saturday, February 29 at the Clark State Performing Arts Center in downtown Springfield.
