Chalk de Peace Presents a Night of Comedy at Clark State Performing Arts Center

March 7, 2022

The Clark State Performing Arts Center will host a comedy night with Chalk de Peace and special guest comedians on Saturday, March 12 at 8 p.m. in the Turner Studio Theater.

Featured comedians include Marcus Combs, Deandre Stringer, Kyle Kemper, and Cap City Comics with the sounds of 3’z Company.

Though not a comedian herself, Tisa Braddy, owner and producer of Chalk de Peace, has a love for the craft. She said feedback from performers at previous shows has been nothing but positive.  “I am overwhelmingly pleased how the previous shows have gone,” said Braddy. “The comedians thus far have superseded any expectations I dared to have.”

Braddy said the increase in guest attendance at each show can only lead her to assume the comedy nights are well received and enjoyed.

Born and raised in Chicago, Marcus Combs is a stand-up comedian, actor and writer who has appeared in films such as Cut’n It Up: Chicago, Def Comedy Jam, BET ComicView, Jaime Fox’s Laffapalooza on Comedy Central and The Bad Boys of Comedy. You can catch him on Don DC Curry’s podcast and on tour all over the United States with Corey Holcomb, Don DC Curry and a host of others.

Deandre Stringer; twenty-five year young comic from Dayton, Ohio, began his comedic journey four years ago. Ever since then, he has hosted and opened for Leonard Outzs, Hank Denson and most recently for “We Ain’t Done Wildin’ Yet” with Lil JJ and Mope Williams from Wild N’Out. A rising star in the comedy game and definitely a “Face to keep an Eye on!”

Kyle Kemper is a twenty-one year young comedian from Dayton, Ohio, who started stand-up when he was sixteen years old. Kyle is best known for his self-deprecating humor and energetic crowd work. He has won multiple comedy competitions all over the Midwest and the country. Kyle is a regular at Wiley’s Comedy Club and has been seen in the Super Dope Comedy Festival and Fuse Fest. He has worked with Greg Hahn and Chris Porter, and can best be described as an unpredictable ball of energy

Cap City Comics represent the talent and diversity in the comedic scene of Columbus, Ohio.  Christian HB, Nef Johnson, and Samson Shete come from vastly different backgrounds which culminates into one very unique perspective.  Their riffs have kept crowds all around Ohio engaged and laughing. Check out their podcast “The Assout Podcast” and follow Cap City Comics on Facebook and Instagram.

Tickets for the Chalk de Peace comedy show are $30 (plus fees) and can be purchased through ticketmaster.com. Doors open at 7 p.m.  Cash bar is available. Rating is for mature audiences.

The Clark State PAC is located at 300 South Fountain Avenue in Springfield. All patrons, staff and volunteers are required to wear masks at all times, regardless of vaccination status in all areas of the PAC venue.
