Clark State College is excited to report a 13 percent increase in overall headcount and an 11 percent in credit hours for fall 2024 compared to the previous year, highlighting a strong commitment to education within the community.

In addition to the overall increase, new student enrollment surged by 19 percent, with high school student enrollment rising by 19 percent. Continuing students from spring 2024 also saw a five percent increase, while returning students—those who had taken a semester off—are back in greater numbers, reflecting a nine percent rise in their enrollment.

The growth is particularly pronounced at Clark State’s regional locations, such as Beavercreek and Bellefontaine, where student numbers and credit hours have risen by double digits. The college also expanded its College Credit Plus program at the Greene County Career Center, successfully launching a licensed practical nurse pathway that attracted more than 120 students.

“We are excited to welcome more students than ever before,” said Jo Alice Blondin, Ph.D., president. “I am very proud of Clark State’s team and their tireless work to ensure all students feel welcome at Clark State and can achieve their goals. Students, parents and employers recognize that Clark State provides a quality, affordable education right in their backyard. I’m glad the word is getting out that community colleges are colleges of choice.”

Despite statewide delays in FAFSA financial aid simplification, a third of Clark State undergraduate students completed a FAFSA and more than half were awarded Pell grants. The college is set to also award students more than $356,000 in state grants for fall 2024, further supporting students in their educational pursuits.

“Aside from being accessible and affordable, we are also high quality,” said Dawayne Kirkman, Ph.D., senior vice president of student affairs, enrollment management and regional campuses. We have ample student services and engagement opportunities to make sure students are thriving inside and outside of the classroom. Plus, with Clark State, you are not just starting college, you are attending the most affordable college in our service area.”
