A Message About Recent Events from Clark State President Dr. Jo Alice Blondin

June 1, 2020

As I have reflected on the events following the deaths of George Floyd and Ahmaud Arbery, I am saddened and distressed by the senseless loss of life, and recognize that we must come together to have the difficult conversations necessary and commit to take positive action to challenge systemic racism. After all, our diversity as a country is our strength.

Clark State’s mission begins with these inspiring words: "to engage and empower diverse learners." At Clark State, the Board, faculty, and staff recognize that the education we deliver to our students prepares them to display leadership and helps them resolve complicated and contentious issues in ways that unite their communities.

Our guiding principles at Clark State reflect what we value as an organization: learning, community, partnerships, diversity, and innovation. These principles provide us all with a critical roadmap to navigate the challenges of our current environment while at the same time providing us with the knowledge that education is and always will be a unifier for understanding.
